The Movie
A womanizing newspaper columnist (Paul Newman) and a tomboy fashioner designer who’s sworn off love (Joanne Woodward) fall for each other while working in Paris.

Not my favorite 1960s Hollywood romanic comedy, but of interest as a time capsule of the era’s design (and chain-smoking). Edith Head earned one of her 35 Oscar nominations for the film, part of a streak in which she earned nods 19 straight years from 1949 to 1967.

There was Oscar pedigree behind the camera as well in Daniel L. Fapp, who had quite the eclectic career. He took home his Academy Award for West Side Story and shot comedies with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, Elvis and Marilyn Monroe, while also dabbling in noirs, westerns and war movies (including John Sturges’ The Great Escape).
